Indian modular kitchens rarely have spare counter space, and a wall-mounted purifier above the sink isn't always possible in a rented or tiled kitchen. An under-sink purifier hides the machine inside the cabinet and gives you a slim dedicated tap instead. The catch is fit: these units range from 11 cm to over 45 cm wide, and your plumbing, dustbin and water pressure all compete for the same space.

We evaluated 30 under-sink and under-counter purifiers on Amazon.in and shortlisted 14, comparing footprint, pump and pressure needs, tank size, TDS rating, installation arrangements, filter costs and the most recent verified owner reviews. We dropped listings with no genuine reviews, units that aren't actually under-sink, and anything rated below 4 stars on Amazon.

  • 24-month filter life and a 2-year warranty, the longest here
  • Three mineral profiles selectable in the app
  • Built-in TDS meter and filter-life alerts
  • Rated for 2,000 ppm TDS

Cons

  • Only 15 ratings so far, so reliability isn't proven at scale
  • Service is centred in the NCR; one owner elsewhere waited two weeks for a part
  • Premium price for a young brand
  • No booster pump listed, so check your water pressure

Rating Breakdown

Purification Performance for Indian Water 8.3
Space & Installation Fit 9.2
Water Delivery & Convenience 8.7
Reliability & Owner Experience 6.7
Maintenance Cost & Service Network 8.0

Our Verdict

The Boon Tap wins on engineering: the slimmest body here, the longest filter life and warranty, and an app that tells you when a filter actually needs changing. Its reviews are few but positive. The risks are a young brand and service centred on the NCR, so it's the best choice if you live in a well-served city and value fit and features.

Zero B Kitchenmate RO Under the Sink Water Purifier

A spotless recent review record in a slim cabinet footprint.

Our Rating

7.7

Specifications

Brand Zero B (Ion Exchange)

  • Slim 15 cm depth fits tight cabinets
  • Active Silver storage keeps tank water fresher
  • Owners report 1.5 years of trouble-free use

Cons

  • Only 22 ratings, so the perfect record needs more data
  • Rated for 600 ppm TDS, lower than most rivals
  • Smaller service network (1,800+ pin codes) than KENT or Aquaguard
  • Flow rate is listed as both 9 and 15 L/hr

Rating Breakdown

Purification Performance for Indian Water 7.0
Space & Installation Fit 9.0
Water Delivery & Convenience 7.3
Reliability & Owner Experience 7.6
Maintenance Cost & Service Network 7.5

Our Verdict

Every recent verified review of the Kitchenmate is 4 or 5 stars, and its slim body suits tight cabinets. The sample is small, and the 600 ppm TDS rating makes it better for moderate city supplies than for hard borewell water. A strong choice for municipal water in a compact kitchen.

AO Smith X5+Neo Under Sink RO Water Purifier

A compact, pump-free AO Smith RO with a clean recent review record.

Our Rating

7.5

Pros

  • Compact, and owners say it doesn't compromise on water quality
  • Works without a booster pump at normal household pressure
  • Fast tank refill despite the 6 L size
  • Only 1 negative review in its last 17 verified
  • Copper mineralizer adds minerals back

Cons

  • No adjustable TDS controller
  • One isolated report of a fault a technician couldn't diagnose
  • Priced above comparable regional brands
  • Tank material isn't confirmed beyond 'plastic'

Rating Breakdown

Purification Performance for Indian Water 7.6
Space & Installation Fit 8.2
Water Delivery & Convenience 7.5
Reliability & Owner Experience 7.3
Maintenance Cost & Service Network 6.5

Our Verdict

The X5+Neo is AO Smith's sweet spot: a compact body, no pump to fail at normal pressure, and one of the cleanest recent owner records here. It's pure RO with a copper mineralizer and no UV stage. If your building has decent pressure, it's a simple, dependable choice.

Aquaguard Select Designo 9-Stage Under The Counter Water Purifier

Best for Low Water Pressure

The most compact, best-equipped Designo, with an inbuilt pump for low-pressure homes.

Our Rating

7.4

Specifications

Brand Aquaguard (Eureka Forbes)
Purification 9-stage RO+UV + Active Copper
Max TDS 2,000 ppm
Footprint 28.5 x 19.5 x 27.5 cm
Tank 8 L
Flow Rate 15 L/hr
Pump Inbuilt zero-pressure pump
Minerals Active Copper + taste adjuster (MTDS)
Tap Diverter faucet included

Pros

  • Most compact of the three Designo models
  • Inbuilt pump works even with very little incoming pressure
  • Taste adjuster (MTDS) included, unlike its Designo siblings
  • Rated for 2,000 ppm TDS
  • Cheapest Designo at ₹17,999

Cons

  • Shares one review pool (423 ratings, 4.0 stars) with two other Designo models; about 27% of recent reviews in that pool are negative
  • Some buyers say the taste adjuster wasn't included or cost ₹500 extra, so confirm before ordering
  • Installation delays of 5 to 15 days reported repeatedly
  • Several reports of membrane or circuit-board failures within months
  • No ISI/BIS licence number on the listing

Rating Breakdown

Purification Performance for Indian Water 8.3
Space & Installation Fit 8.0
Water Delivery & Convenience 8.5
Reliability & Owner Experience 5.0
Maintenance Cost & Service Network 7.0

Our Verdict

The Select Designo is the smartest buy in Aquaguard's Designo range: the smallest footprint, a pump that copes with weak pressure, and a taste adjuster, all at the lowest Designo price. It shares a review pool with its siblings that shows recurring installation and after-sales problems, so confirm the taste adjuster is included and book installation early.

AO Smith Z2+ Luxe (Midnight Black) RO Under Sink Water Purifier

A premium-finish AO Smith with a clean review record.

Our Rating

7.4

Specifications

Brand AO Smith
Purification 7-stage RO

Water Recovery 55% (brand claim)
Minerals Fixed copper mineralizer

Tap Gooseneck faucet included
Warranty 1 year comprehensive

Pros

  • Only 1 negative review in its last 18 verified, and that was about installation
  • Owners praise how neatly it fits under the sink
  • 55% water recovery claimed
  • Copper mineralizer
  • Striking midnight-black finish

Cons

  • Priciest AO Smith here, with similar core purification to the cheaper X5
  • No booster pump listed
  • One owner's dust-particle complaint was dismissed as 'bubbles' over four visits
  • No ISI/BIS details on the listing

Rating Breakdown

Purification Performance for Indian Water 8.0
Space & Installation Fit 7.8
Water Delivery & Convenience 6.8
Reliability & Owner Experience 7.3
Maintenance Cost & Service Network 6.5

Our Verdict

The Z2+ Luxe earns its premium with a distinctive black finish and a very clean recent owner record. Purification is similar to AO Smith's cheaper X5 models, so you're mostly paying for looks and the 55% recovery claim. Pick it if kitchen aesthetics matter and your pressure is good.

Aquaguard ENRICH Select Designo RO+UV Under-the-Counter Water Purifier

The most heavily equipped Designo, with the highest flow rate.

Our Rating

7.3

Specifications

Brand Aquaguard (Eureka Forbes)
Purification 10-stage RO+UV
Max TDS 2,000 ppm
Footprint 28.5 x 19.5 x 28.5 cm

Filter Life 1 year

Pros

  • 10 stages, the most of any Designo
  • 24 L/hr, the fastest flow in the family
  • Compact footprint
  • Works at low pressure without a separate booster
  • Copper and alkaline mineral stages

Cons

  • Shares one review pool (423 ratings, 4.0 stars) with two other Designo models; about 27% of recent reviews in that pool are negative
  • Installation delays of 5 to 15 days reported repeatedly
  • No adjustable taste control
  • Tap type not confirmed on this listing
  • No ISI/BIS licence number on the listing

Rating Breakdown

Purification Performance for Indian Water 8.5
Space & Installation Fit 8.5
Water Delivery & Convenience 7.3
Reliability & Owner Experience 5.0
Maintenance Cost & Service Network 7.0

Our Verdict

The ENRICH Select Designo has the most stages and the fastest flow in the Designo range, in a compact body that works at low pressure. Like its siblings, its shared review pool shows real installation and service friction. A good pick if you want copper and alkaline stages and can live with a fixed taste profile.

Aquatec Plus Smart Pure UTS Under Sink 12L

  • Only 12% of its last 100 verified reviews are negative
  • Owners call it better value than pricier big brands
  • Adjustable TDS controller
  • Lowest price in this list

Cons

  • You call and pay a technician directly (₹500-700) for installation
  • 'ISI Certified' appears only in the title
  • Some cities (for example Pune) report no local technician
  • Small regional manufacturer
  • Warranty covers only electronics and the membrane

Rating Breakdown

Purification Performance for Indian Water 8.8
Space & Installation Fit 6.8
Water Delivery & Convenience 7.5
Reliability & Owner Experience 7.2
Maintenance Cost & Service Network 5.0

Our Verdict

The Smart Pure UTS offers the highest TDS rating in the list and a full RO+UV+UF stack for the lowest price, with a clean record across 100 recent reviews. It's a small regional brand, installation is arranged directly with a technician at extra cost, and the warranty is narrow. The best value pick for very hard water if local service is available where you live.

Specifications

  • Cheapest AO Smith here at ₹14,999
  • Owners praise the build and finish over months of use

Cons

  • 19% of recent reviews are negative, mostly about after-sales service

  • No filter life published

Rating Breakdown

Purification Performance for Indian Water 7.6
Space & Installation Fit 8.3
Water Delivery & Convenience 7.2
Reliability & Owner Experience 6.2
Maintenance Cost & Service Network 6.5

Our Verdict

The X5 delivers the same 6-stage RO as its siblings for less, with a slim body and a free pre-filter. Its reviews show more after-sales friction than the newer X5+Neo, which costs ₹1,200 more. If your budget stretches, the Neo is the safer AO Smith.

KENT Sterling IoT Under the Counter RO Water Purifier

Best Service Network Coverage

The broadest claimed service network here, though reviews are more mixed than the marketing.

Our Rating

7.2

Specifications

  • Broadest claimed service network here (19,000+ pin codes)
  • 3 years of free service after the 1-year warranty
  • RO+UV+UF with adjustable TDS control, copper and alkaline
  • Live water-quality display and automatic service requests
  • Most owners report quick, professional installation

Cons

  • 26% of recent reviews describe fee-driven or slow service despite the free-service promise
  • One report of repeated breakdowns within 6 months
  • 6 L tank is small for the price
  • Max TDS not stated

Rating Breakdown

Purification Performance for Indian Water 8.4
Space & Installation Fit 6.5
Water Delivery & Convenience 6.8
Reliability & Owner Experience 5.6
Maintenance Cost & Service Network 8.5

Our Verdict

The Sterling IoT backs its high price with the strongest service promise here: 19,000+ pin codes and three years of free service. Recent owners say that promise doesn't always hold, with a quarter describing service friction. It suits buyers who want full taste control and KENT's reach, but go in with realistic expectations.

Bepure UTS ISI Mark Under Sink Water Purifier 12L

Strong specs at a low price, undercut by widely reported poor after-sales service.

Our Rating

7.1

Specifications

Brand BePure
Purification 8-stage RO+UV+UF + TDS + Copper Alkaline
Max TDS 3,000 ppm
Footprint 42 x 22 x 37 cm
Tank 12 L hydro-pneumatic
Flow Rate 15 L/hr
Minerals Adjustable TDS controller + alkaline (pH 7.5-8.5)
Tap Stainless steel tap included
Warranty 1-year 'assurance'
Certification 'ISI Mark' in the title, no licence number

Pros

  • Full RO+UV+UF with an adjustable TDS controller
  • Rated for 3,000 ppm TDS
  • 12 L pressure tank
  • Low price for the specification
  • Stainless steel tap included

Cons

  • The weakest service reputation here, with complaints spanning nearly four years
  • Recurring power-adapter failures within weeks or months
  • 'ISI Mark' appears only in the title
  • Installation delays and overcharging reported
  • '1-year assurance' is vaguer than a standard warranty

Rating Breakdown

Purification Performance for Indian Water 8.7
Space & Installation Fit 7.0
Water Delivery & Convenience 8.3
Reliability & Owner Experience 5.2
Maintenance Cost & Service Network 5.5

Our Verdict

On paper the BePure UTS is excellent value: a 3,000 ppm rating, full RO+UV+UF, a TDS controller and a 12 L tank. In practice, owners describe the worst after-sales service in this list, plus recurring adapter failures. Only consider it if you have a trusted local technician.

Havells UTC 100% RO & UV Water Purifier

A historically solid Havells RO whose recent review trail has gone quiet.

Our Rating

6.8

Specifications

Brand Havells
Purification 8-stage 100% RO + double UV
Max TDS 500 ppm (listed; low for borewell use)
Footprint 35 x 20 x 30 cm
Tank 7 L
Pump Internal pump (per error alerts)
Minerals Revitalizer + mineral cartridge (fixed)
Warranty 1 year

Pros

  • Touch-button dispensing by glass or bottle
  • Compact and easy to install
  • Owners from 2020 to 2023 report years of trouble-free use
  • Extended warranty plan available

Cons

  • Only one verified Indian review in the last two years
  • The listed 500 ppm rating contradicts its 'suitable for borewell' claim
  • No flow rate published
  • An older, slow-selling listing; check the manufacture date

Rating Breakdown

Purification Performance for Indian Water 6.5
Space & Installation Fit 8.0
Water Delivery & Convenience 6.8
Reliability & Owner Experience 6.4
Maintenance Cost & Service Network 6.0

Our Verdict

This older Havells has a good historical record, but only one verified Indian review in two years, and a listed 500 ppm TDS rating that sits oddly with its borewell marketing. Check current stock and the manufacture date before buying.

Aquaguard ASPIRE Designo RO+UV Under-the-Counter Water Purifier

The largest, most expensive Designo, on wheels.

Our Rating

6.7

Specifications

Brand Aquaguard (Eureka Forbes)
Purification 10-stage RO+UV
Max TDS 2,000 ppm
Footprint 46.1 x 25.7 x 39 cm
Tank 7 L
Flow Rate 24 L/hr
Design Single unit with wheels and handle
Minerals Active Copper + Alkaline Boost
Filter Life 1 year

Pros

  • Single-unit design with wheels for easy movement
  • Can connect to double-door refrigerators
  • 10-stage RO+UV at 24 L/hr
  • Copper and alkaline stages

Cons

  • Roughly double the volume of the ENRICH Designo
  • Highest Designo price without a matching advantage
  • Shares one review pool (423 ratings, 4.0 stars) with two other Designo models; about 27% of recent reviews in that pool are negative
  • Tap type not confirmed
  • No ISI/BIS licence number on the listing

Rating Breakdown

Purification Performance for Indian Water 8.5
Space & Installation Fit 6.0
Water Delivery & Convenience 6.8
Reliability & Owner Experience 5.0
Maintenance Cost & Service Network 7.0

Our Verdict

The ASPIRE Designo trades cabinet space for a wheeled, single-unit build that can also feed a double-door fridge. It costs the most in the Designo range and shares the same service concerns, so the ENRICH or Select Designo is the better buy for most kitchens.

Havells FAB UTC (Under The Counter) Alkaline Water Purifier

A capable under-sink Havells RO, despite a confusing listing.

Our Rating

6.5

Specifications

Brand Havells
Purification 8-stage 100% RO+UV + Alkaline
Max TDS 2,000 ppm
Footprint 43.9 x 28.6 x 40 cm
Installation Under sink only (the listing's 'Countertop' label is wrong)
Tank 7 L stainless steel
Flow Rate 25 L/hr
Minerals Alkaline + revitalizer (fixed)
Tap 360° brass faucet included

Pros

  • Owners say it handles high-TDS water well
  • Premium stainless steel tank
  • Good value cited repeatedly
  • Some owners report 2+ years of trouble-free use
  • Rotating brass faucet included

Cons

  • The listing says 'Countertop' and 'Wall mounting', but owners confirm it is under-sink only
  • About 35% of recent reviews are negative, the highest among big brands here
  • Recurring slow-service complaints
  • Several reports of leaks and failed control cards

Rating Breakdown

Purification Performance for Indian Water 7.8
Space & Installation Fit 6.5
Water Delivery & Convenience 7.3
Reliability & Owner Experience 4.5
Maintenance Cost & Service Network 6.0

Our Verdict

The FAB UTC purifies high-TDS water well and has a steel tank and brass faucet, but its listing wrongly says it can sit on the counter or wall, and several buyers returned it for that reason. With the highest negative-review share among the big brands here, it's hard to recommend over the AO Smith or Designo models.

Buying Guide

First decide: RO or UV?

Most under-sink purifiers are RO, which you need for borewell, tanker or high-TDS water. If you're on treated city water with low TDS, a UV + UF purifier is enough and wastes no water. Our water purifier buying guide tells you which type fits in three questions, and our best RO water purifiers roundup covers wall-mounted RO models.

Measure your cabinet before you shop

Under-sink purifiers here range from 11 cm to over 45 cm wide, close to the full width of a standard cabinet. Measure the usable width, depth and height around your pipes and dustbin, and compare that with each model's footprint. A unit that looks compact can still be too wide once the plumbing is in the way.

Check your water pressure before deciding on a pump

Some units include a pump that works at very low incoming pressure; others rely on mains pressure and skip the pump, and with it the noise and a possible failure point. A pump model is safer in a high-rise flat or an area with weak supply. If you're not sure of your pressure, ask your building plumber or a neighbour on a similar floor.

Match the stages to your water source

RO+UV+UF is the most complete combination for unpredictable water such as borewell, tanker or seasonal municipal supply. RO with UF is usually enough for treated city water with moderate TDS. Check your water with a handheld TDS meter before choosing.

Read the warranty and installation terms

Filter and membrane replacement typically costs ₹1,500 to ₹3,000 a year. Some listings advertise a warranty that covers only electronics or the membrane, not leaks, the tank or labour. Installation usually means drilling a hole for the tap; confirm whether it's included, and whether the brand or a local technician does it.

A big service network is a claim, not a guarantee

Some brands advertise very large service networks, yet recent owner reviews for the same models describe delayed visits and fee disputes. Weigh the network claim against what recent verified buyers report.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a booster pump for an under-sink RO purifier?
Only if your incoming pressure is low, which is common in older buildings and on higher floors without a pressure booster. The Aquaguard Select Designo has an inbuilt pump for this; the AO Smith X5+Neo works without one at normal household pressure.
Can an under-sink purifier be wall-mounted instead?
Usually not. Most under-sink units are designed and plumbed only for below-the-sink installation, even when a listing's spec table says otherwise. Owners of the Havells FAB UTC, for example, report technicians refusing to wall-mount it.
Does '100% RO' mean the water has no minerals?
No. Brands use '100% RO' to mean all water passes through the membrane with no bypass. Most still add minerals back with a copper, alkaline or mineral cartridge, so check the listing for that separately.
Is an under-sink RO right for city water?
Not always. If your municipal water reads under 500 ppm TDS, a UV + UF purifier handles germs without wasting water. See our best UV water purifiers, or use our water purifier buying guide to check.
Why do some models have identical reviews?
Some brands sell the same platform under several model names, and Amazon can share their reviews across the family. The three Aquaguard Designo models here share one review pool, so compare their actual spec differences instead.
How much does an under-sink purifier cost to maintain?
Typically ₹1,500 to ₹3,000 a year for filters and membranes, more if your water is very hard. Treat unusually low maintenance claims as unverified unless the seller publishes a parts price list.
Does a bigger tank always mean a better purifier?
No. A 12-21 L tank means fewer refill waits and a buffer during low pressure, but it takes more cabinet space. A small household with steady pressure is well served by a 5-8 L tank that refills quickly.

Our Verdict

The Boon Tap at ₹20,990 is the best under-sink purifier for most modular kitchens. At 11 cm wide it fits where nothing else does, and its 24-month filters, 2-year warranty and app-based mineral control are the best in the list, as long as a young, NCR-centred service network works for you.

If you want a proven long-term record, the P-Link Z+ at ₹13,500 has the biggest tank and the most consistent service reports. For weak water pressure, the Aquaguard Select Designo at ₹17,999 has an inbuilt pump and a taste adjuster.

On a budget, the Aquatec Plus Smart Pure UTS at ₹10,843 is rated for 3,500 ppm TDS and has a clean review record, though you'll arrange installation with a technician yourself.
