A French door refrigerator has two side-opening doors on top for the fridge and one or two pull-out freezer drawers below. Because the fridge sits at eye level, you stop bending for daily items, and the full-width shelves take large thalis, pressure cookers and party platters that won't fit a narrow single door. Don't confuse it with a side-by-side, which splits the cabinet vertically into a tall fridge and a tall freezer — several Amazon.in listings sold as 'French door' are really side-by-sides. How much capacity do you actually need?

For Indian families, 450-520 L suits 3-4 members, while 550-630 L suits 5+ or homes that bulk-shop and store lots of fresh produce. Look at the fridge/freezer split, not just the total: both Haiers here give huge fridge space but small 80-102 L freezers, while the Samsung (186 L) and Electrolux 609 L (238 L) suit homes that freeze a lot.
